Best Time to Visit

Experiencing the magic of Paris, Beaune, and Lyon is best timed around your desired experiences.

For pleasant weather and vibrant city life, spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) are ideal.  Paris and Lyon will be delightful with comfortable temperatures, and the vineyards in Burgundy and Chablis will showcase their picturesque landscapes without the summer crowds.  Additionally, fall offers the opportunity to witness the grape harvest, a truly special sight.

If wine tasting is your primary focus, aim for the summer months (June-August). The weather is perfect for exploring vineyards and enjoying outdoor activities.  However, be prepared for higher prices and larger crowds, especially in Paris.

Winter (November-March) offers a charming and unique perspective, particularly in Paris. The city takes on a magical atmosphere with festive decorations and fewer tourists.  However, some wineries may have limited hours or be closed for the season in Burgundy and Chablis.

Arrive in Paris

Paris is the perfect starting point for your wine and gastronomy tour. The fantastic and fun Left Bank location is ideally situated and close to some of Paris’ grandest sites, but this iconic area also offers a quaint atmosphere with cobblestone streets, sophisticated shopping, and charming bistros. Your boutique hotel, La Bourdonnais, is located one block from the Champs-de-Mar gardens leading directly to the Eiffel Tower. On day two, experience Paris at its finest on a gastronomic tour in one of Paris’ vibrant neighbourhoods.

Suggested Accommodation: La Bourdonnais

Travel to Beaune – the spectacular walled town at the center of the Burgundy winemaking region. This stunning city is surrounded by the Côte d’Or vineyards and is renowned for an annual wine auction held at the Hôtel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune).  Your tour can include a visit to the 15th-century former hospital that is now the Hôtel-Dieu Museum, one of the finest and best preserved Renaissance buildings in Europe, showcasing works like “The Last Judgement” and an altarpiece by Van der Weyden.  Head out in your private car into the beautiful countryside to explore one or more of the most exceptional wineries and vineyards in Chablis and Burgundy.  Experience the vintner’s art and exceptional work at one or more tours and curated tastings. Stay in the wonderfully appointed Les Nomades Beaune, a secluded retreat that’s only a 15 minute walk from the Hospices de Beaune.

Suggested Accommodation: Les Nomades Beaune

Lyon and Beaujolais

On your way to Lyon, you will travel along the famous Route des Grands Crus with a stop for wine tastings and cellar tours at one or more of the many prestigious wineries on this gorgeous route.  Lyon is recognized for its cuisine and gastronomy, as well as historical and architectural landmarks.  With over 20 Michelin-starred restaurants, there are many fine options to enjoy.  You’ll be staying at the luxurious Intercontinental Lyon Hotel Dieu, housed in a 19th century manor at the heart of the Peninsula of Lyon.

Your private car and driver will be available to bring you out into the French countryside to explore the spectacular Beaujolais region.  Famous for Beaujolais Nouveau, the region produces some wonderfully complex wines from the Gamay grape variety.
