Arrive in Athens

Athens

Arrive in the heart of ancient Greece – Welcome to Athens! Embark on a tour of iconic Greek landmarks, where your guide will reveal the secrets of the Acropolis & the Parthenon, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and the Kallimarmaro Stadium. This was built of marble for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896! Afterwards, delve into modern Athens and discover the narrow streets of the city, stopping off at an old bakery, traditional cafés, and souvlaki stalls on the way to sample local delicacies and aperitifs.

Kalambaka

Depart from Athens and head North to the majestic town of Kalambaka. Take an afternoon visit to a family owned distillery to taste the local wines and “tsipouro” (the Greek equivalent to Grappa). The next day, view awe-inspiring rock formations in Meteora, which literally translates to “suspended in the heavens above”. Climb the charming mountain villages of Kastraki and Kalambaka to visit two of the six surviving Monasteries of Meteora, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in the world. Complete your day with an authentic dinner in one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Greece, Metsovo, known for its cheese and delicious cuisine!

Galaxidi

Continue your journey south to the port town of Galaxidi. With narrow cobblestone streets connected to well sheltered harbours, it makes this town the prettiest along the Gulf of Corinth. Enjoy a pie making class hosted by a local chef to bring the culture of the area to life. Embark on your second day to the world’s most famous oracle, Ancient Delphi. View the archaeological site and numerous monuments that have remained from ancient times, when Delphi was considered the navel of the world. Complete your tour with a stop at the museum, which houses spectacular exhibits including the Naxian Sphinx and the famous bronze Charioteer. These artefacts provide a better understanding of the role Delphi played in antiquity.

Nafplio

Your tour continues further south to Nafplio, considered the crown jewel of the new Greek wine industry. Visit one of the best local wineries for a tasting experience and lunch. Continue to the Epidaurus site to explore the remarkable ancient theatre and the healing sanctuary of Asclepius, God of Medicine. Spend your next afternoon at leisure enjoying views of Nafplio’s Venetian Castle, dining at seafood taverns, and learning about the rich history of the port town.

Santorini

Complete your Greek adventure at one of the top travel destinations in the world! Depart on an island tour exploring the remote villages and ancient past of Santorini. Visit the pre-historic settlement of Akrotiri, one of the most important civilizations in the Mediterranean and known as the Pompeii of Greece due to the great volcanic eruption of 1600 B.C. Spend your evening soaking up Santorini’s spectacular views while enjoying a tasting at one of the finest wineries of the island.
