Itinerary

Day 1, Saturday June 29: Athens 

Welcome to Greece! Today we’re heading straight into all the fun! Our day in Athens will be spent exploring the Acropolis, antiquity’s most splendid group of monuments. We’ll be visiting the Parthenon, Theatre of Dionysus, the small iconic temple of Athena Nike and the ancient Agora – the civic, religious and commercial centre of ancient Athenian life. The evening will be spent in the quaint neighbourhood that sits directly beneath the Acropolis, the lively and vibrant Plaka. *Individual arrival to Greece. 
Overnight: Hotel President, Athens

Day 2, Sunday June 30: Athens – Chania, Crete

Transfer to Pireaus, Athen’s major port for the ferry to Crete. Upon arrival in Chania, experience the Venetian Harbour, the old port, and the narrow shopping streets that are part of picturesque Chania’s charm. Its location is ideal for day trips to beautiful beaches, famous gorges and scenic mountain villages. Travelers will have free time enjoy a Frappe (iced Greek coffee ) or a local Greek cocktail.

Day 3, Monday, July 1: Balos Beach, Crete

Rise and shine! One of the dreamiest beaches await. Today we will basque in the sun on Balos Beach. The Bay of Balos is simply stunning and is one of the most iconic pictures of western Crete. The main attraction of Balos is the beautiful sandy beach – the clear turquoise water of the sea and the stunning natural surroundings. Free evening in Chania.

Day 4, Tuesday, July 2: Crete – Santorini

Put on your traveling pants, we’reheading to Santorini! Santorini is a majestic island. It feels close to the sun, sits on top of a caldera and it’s surrounded by the beautiful Aegean Sea. Our hotel is located alongside the black sand and relaxing beach of Perissa. After checking-in and acquainting ourselves with the town, we will spend the afternoon getting lost in the cobblestone streets and indulging in the unforgetable views of Santorini’s main city, Thira (also known as ‘Fira’).

Day 5, Wednesday, July 3: Santorini

Breathtakingly beautiful and perfectly perched on the northwestern tip of the island, Oia is one of the most famous towns in Santorini.  Whitewashed houses are carved into the rugged clifftops that overlook a vast caldera that supposedly hides the mythical city of Atlantis . Descend the 300 hundred steps from Oia to arrive at a favourite spot amongst locals: the charming Amoudi Bay. Surrounded by red cliffs, typical white-washed buildings and emerald water, this little village features several quaint tavernas serving delicious seafood and views.

Day 6, Thursday, July 4: Santorini 
This day is yours to do as you like. Explore the traditional village of Megalochori or the former capital of Santorini and the best-preserved medieval settlement on the island, the village of Pyrgos. You are also free to relax and spend the day on the beach. Optional volcanoes excursion.

Day 7, Friday, July 5: Santorini – Athens/Pireaus – Poros

Today we island hop! Board the ferry back to Pireaus to catch the transfer to Poros.  Along the way enjoy the incredible views of the multitude of islands that are part of the Cyclades chain while sunning yourself on deck.  As you enter the Saronic Gulf, keep your eyes peeled for Cape Sounion and the stunning Temple of Poseidon.  Perched on a cliff and surrounded by the sea on three sides, the BC 4th-century ruins stand guard protecting the waterway leading to Athens. Arrival to Poros, one of Greece’s well-kept secrets is situated in the southwest of the Saronic Gulf, opposite the Peloponnese. Poros is comprised of two islands, Sphairia and Kalavria, of which the former is a volcanic rock and the latter planted with pine trees. Encounter quaint tavernas, yacht marinas, neoclassical buildings, a clock tower and beautiful beaches. Enjoy the island’s charming simplicity.

Day 8, Saturday, July 6: Poros

Free Day in Poros! Spend the day on Russian Bay or Love Cove. You can even head among the pine trees in the middle of the island you’ll come across the ruins of a Doric temple dedicated to Poseidon, built in the 6th century BC out of blue limestone.

Day 9, Sunday, July 7: Poros – Athens 

Enjoy the morning in Poros, before heading back to Athens. Enjoy Syntagma Square, shopping on the pedestrian friendly Hermou Street or even walking up Mount Lycabettus, also known as Lycabettos. Spend your last night in Greece at one of the many tavernas or bouzouki bars in the Plaka.

Day 10, Monday, July 8:  Farewell to Athens 
What an adventure! Sad to see our journey come to an end! After the hotel check-out there will be one group transfer to the airport.

Tour Price Includes

  • Accommodation in 3-4 star hotels as indicated in the itinerary 
  • Breakfast daily at the hotel 
  • Dinner daily at either local restaurants or the hotel
  • All transportation as per the itinerary on private air conditioned busses/coach

*Group airport transfers will be booked to coincide with flight schedule of the group leader and timed to accommodate as many travellers as possible. Please note if your flight falls outside of this window, you will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the airport in Athens.

Payment Schedule

  • Deposit: $565.00 (and travel insurance if applicable) at time of registration and confirmation of the group
  • Second Payment: $1,000.00 due March 22, 2019
  • Final Payment: $1,000.00 (plus single supplment if applicable) due April 22, 2019

Fine Print: Price is based on a minimum of 10 participants in shared double accommodations. There will be a surcharge if the minimum participant number is not reached. Single supplement applies to a person travelling solo without a partner/roommate, or who prefers to not share a room. Price is based on land tarrifs and currency exchange rates as of February 6, 2019. Please note the possibility of increases in land costs prior to final payment.  Any increase must be borne by the individual participant. Note: travellers should be advised that living conditions, transportation, and services in Greece differ from those found in Canada.
