Best Time to Visit
This gorgeous itinerary can be enjoyed virtually year-round.
Buenos Aires has a climate like that of a southern U.S. city, such as Atlanta (hot summers and cold, but not freezing, winters). In the shoulder seasons of fall and spring the temperatures are mild and very pleasant.
The Lakes District has a climate like the Pacific Northwest of the United States, but with the seasons reversed. There is a cool dry mountain climate from October to April, and a warmer and occasionally wetter season from May/June to October.
Mendoza is a pleasant place to visit always, with an extremely dry climate and abundant sun.
Patagonia is best visited from November to March when temperatures are milder.

Itinerary
Arrive in Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires
Your adventure begins in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant capital city! Upon arrival at the airport, relax in the VIP lounge while a porter handles your luggage and then breeze through the exclusive passport control line. Your local guide will greet you there and provide an overview of the city known as ‘The Paris of South America’ during the drive to your luxury boutique hotel.
While in Buenos Aires, a bespoke tour will include the best this city has to offer: street art and architecture, antique markets, bohemian neighborhoods, and the legendary football club where Diego Maradona made his name. See trendy and fashion-forward districts that ooze history and culture. Spend time exploring the superb shopping, historical cafes, and gorgeous urban parks. Argentina is renowned for its grilling cuisine, and a delicious ‘Asado’ is planned to showcase grilling at its best. Before you depart, you’ll enjoy the most tantilizing tango show in town that will leave you buzzing with excitement.
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Algodon Mansion
El Calafate
After a tantalizing urban experience in Buenos Aires, it’s onto El Calafate, which is deep in Argentina’s Southern Patagonia Ice Field and home to the spectacular Perito Moreno glacier.
After gliding along the Upsala channel, a private tour will allow you to explore one of the oldest Patagonian ranches in the area, Estancia Cristina. Upon arrival at historic Estancia Cristina, marvel at how an ordinary Englishman could have possibly founded this remote working sheep farm in 1914. Activities include horse riding and 4×4 half-day adventures. Don’t miss the 20 minute ascent to the imposing Upsala Glacier, bypassing fossils left behind by glacial erosion to view an immense glacier that can only be accessed from Estancia Cristina.
Upon returning to the Estancia, enjoy a delicious ranch lunch followed by time to explore the beautiful grounds and panoramic scenery. We recommend a visit to the Costumbrista museum to learn how the pioneering Masters family still runs the ranch to this day.
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Eolo Patagonia Relais and Chateaux
Bariloche & Lake District
Argentina’s stunning Lake District is evocative of Swiss alpine regions, complete with pretty towns full of chocolate shops and unique boutiques. Nestled on the shores of the Nahuel Huapi Lake, Bariloche offers thrilling outdoor activities to satisfy every interest from nature lover to water-sports enthusiast.
Explore gorgeous Gutierrez Lake on a guided kayak adventure, admiring the verdant shores embracing towering mountains. Embark on a fascinating boat ride to the forested Victoria Island. If you wish, a guided hike will take you to discover beautiful coves and panoramic lakeside views of the island, if not, simply relax on the gorgeous beach.
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Alma del Lago Suites and Spa – Superior Lake View room
Mendoza
Fresh from the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District, journey onwards to Mendoza. One of the world’s most famous wine regions, Mendoza produces superb Malbec and is home to more than 1,200 wine cellars.
After arriving at the luxurious Casa de Uco Vineyards & Wine Resort, located at the foot of the Andes Mountains and surrounded by vineyards, you’ll be ready to experience the characteristic flavors and aromas of some of the world’s highest altitude wines. Visit several wineries as you learn about the different grape varietals thriving in the beautiful Uco Valley. One of our favourites, Corazon del Sol, has vines at altitudes of up to 3,000 feet and offers an incredible opportunity to savour tasting flights in a unique location. A cooking class set at the foot of a scenic volcano is another gastronomy experience not to be missed!
While you’re there, we recommend you explore Argentinian cuisine. Mendoza’s culinary scene is taken to new heights by award-winning Argentine chef Francis Mallmann. He famously cooks up a storm at the restaurant Siete Fuegos, which boasts seven outdoor fires, sure to delight your taste buds!
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Casa de Uco
Las Pampas – Cowboys, horses and grasslands
Spend your last nights immersed in the rich gaucho cowboy culture at your refined Spanish colonial-style Estancia (ranch), La Bamba de Areco. An active part of Argentine and gaucho heritage, La Bamba de Areco offers a luxurious getaway, where you can indulge in traditional “asados” (legendary gaucho barbeques), and partake in bespoke horseback riding or cycling adventures across the sweeping plains. We recommend watching the Estancia’s private and unique experiences such as musical entertainment with folk dances, the unbelievable gaucho horse-whisperers or games of equestrian skill (patos, boleadors and sortija).
Transfer back to Buenos Aires in time for your flight home. Buen viaje!
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Estancia La Bamba de Areco
